Don't Get in the Dog House with your Insurance Company
Many insurance companies are becoming restrictive with respect to dogs. While you may not be surprised that they do not want to write a home with a Rottweiler waiting at the front door, many other dogs are on the 'dog list'.
Several breeds including German Shepherds, St. Bernards and others are on the list along with Rottweilers and Pit Bulls. Check with your insurance agent to see what the list is with your insurance company. If your insurance company finds out that you have one of these 'dangerous' dogs, they may refuse to renew your policy.
If you are cancelled, your insurance agent should be able to rewrite your policy with another company. But expect to have either have less coverage or pay a higher premium.
