Organizing Your Closet 101
Many people have that closet (or closets) that we are afraid to open, because who knows what is in there, or what will fall on our heads if we open the door! Here are some tips for making your closets more functional:
Move as much stuff to the top shelves as possible.
Push things back as much as possible.
Leave one easy-access shelf fairly empty. That way, you can put stuff back there as you use it, thus sorting by frequency of use.
Organize by category, such as cleaning supplies, toiletries, laundry detergents. This way you will know where to look. If you save five minutes of looking time, times several times a week, that equals hours per year. So, the hour you take to organize is well worth it!
Get rid of stuff! Throw out, give away, or sell! Eliminate unneeded items.
Remember, what's inside your closet is behind closed doors - it doesn't have to be pretty, just organized! Feel free to use inexpensive organizing containers, such as milk crates and cardboard boxes.
