Choosing a Baby Name
I remember when I was pregnant with my son in 1997, one of the major dilemmas, was choosing a name. We knew we were having a boy, but wanted to have some back-up girl names, just in case the ultrasound was wrong. I liked names with some flair, while my husband preferred more traditional names. My husband's key concern was that bullies would not be able to make fun of the name when our son got to school. To this end, we reviewed initials (what does it spell?), and rhyming possibilities.
There are many resources to help you in choosing a name for your child. There are numerous books available at your library or bookstore. Of course, now, we also have an almost endless supply of baby names on the internet.
Some sites you may want to look at are:
www.babynames.com (They claim to have about 6,500 names in their database. You can search by alphabet, by male or female, etc.)
www.babycenter.com
www.babynamesworld.com (You can search by ethnic origin, and even create your own database of favorites.)
As with any internet search, be aware that some of these sites contain cookies and scripts, which you may want to block. You should be able to search names even while blocking potentially harmful cookies and scripts.
