Your Car's Tires – An Important Safety Feature
Your car’s tires are important to the safety of you and your passengers. Unfortunately, many of us neglect this important part of our vehicle.
There are several maintenance items that should be monitored regularly with regard to your tires:
Check the air pressure every 2-4 weeks. Tire pressure information is on the door jamb of your car.
Have your tires rotated every 6,000 miles. This can often be done when your car is in for an oil change.
Check the tread on your tires regularly. If you notice uneven wear, or if the tread appears to be "balding" (worn down), it is probably time to replace your tires.
Any time your wheels are removed for service, you will need to have them rebalanced. If you notice shimmying on the highway, return your car to the service provider for rebalancing.
Your tires help your car to grip the road, and aid in stopping safely. A sudden flat or blowout can jeopardize the safety of everyone in your vehicle. Be sure to pay attention to tire maintenace!
